Upcoming CONCERT

...The Junior and Senior choirs have been working hard to prepare for this upcoming performance...

We are really excited to be fundraising for The Leading Note Foundation:

• The Leading Note Foundation administers OrKidstra, a social development program for children aged 5 to 18 living in under-served areas of Ottawa, Canada.
• Our mission is to empower children and build community through the universal language of music.
• We carry out this mission by providing children from low-income families with free group and individual music lessons and the chance to learn important life skills like respect, compassion, teamwork, and responsibility through playing and singing together.

New songs and Family Day closure...

New songs have been posted here, on the right side of the page... enjoy!

We won't be practicing on February 15th for Family Day, hope you all have a fantastic long week-end!

Canada's Greatest Music Class

So we entered a performance video covering Feist's 1234  to the CBC Radio 2 contest, "Canada's Greatest Music Class" earlier this month. We are super excited as the winner is announced tomorrow. It has been a blast being part of the contest and we have all really enjoyed watching the other video submissions. Check out just how talented and creative Canada is: Canada's Greatest Music Class submissions (our video is part way down the page!). Enjoy!

Upcoming dates....

Practice is cancelled October 12 and October 19th. We will miss you and can't wait to see ya'll on October 26th!

Street of Rock - Riptide - from the Little Bullhorn Session

New year, new times! Same place, same day!

Following up and adding to my last email, we will be starting up the year at HCC on Monday September 28th. The times are a little different this year:

- children in grade 1 - grade 3 will start at 6:00pm and finish at 6:40pm

- children in grade 4 and up will start at 6:30 and finish at 7:30 pm

There is a 10 minute overlap where the two groups will be practicing one or two songs together.

Upcoming Dates

Monday October 12th - we are closed for Thanksgiving

Monday October 19th - we *might* be closed due to the election (the centre might be in use, our volunteers need to vote, etc). We will let you ASAP on this.

Songs

We are thinking of starting things off this year with Rachel Platten's "Fight Song" and perhaps Ben Caplan's version of "Uptown Funk". Have a search for those songs and let us know what you think.

We are looking for new members, especially in the older group, so if you know anyone who might be interested in checking us out:

- point them to our blog (http://street-of-rock.blogspot.ca/) - will be updated THIS week

- find  "Rock Choir" on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100005981775418)

- email Kayren at kayrenm@sympatico.ca
